Impatiently waiting for something to happen
Well, here I am. I am at home, in between jobs, waiting to find out when I can start with my new employer and my wife and girls are off at school and having fun.
Going to work, even early, is most certainly better than this.
On the plus side, I did have the opportunity to try out Skype voice over IP with a mate of mine this morning. As it was computer to computer, there is no time charge or flagfall so this form of communication is very cheap.
What amazed me though, was the quality of the voice signal in each direction. Admittedly, we both have high speed connections, but even though I have two or three other tasks using the network on my PC, the voice quality was way above normal telephony. It was literally like Shane was in the same room! On top of that, the voice link was encrypted between our PC's.
I will definitely be using this service again. I would encourage all readers of this blog (hopefully there is more than one of you) to check it out -> skype.
