Awaiting Monday.......
It comes again and goes just as quickly, but the thought of another Monday is never that pleasant. I rather like my weekends spent doing sport, catching up with friends and playing with my girls.
Occasionally I will have some time to get online to play a variety of online games, though this is often complicated by a child saying goodbye to me, then grabbing my headphone cable to get my attention.............or grabbing the back of my chair and swinging. This is just my youngest daughter.
This weekend though, saw my soccer team take on Miranda in the first Semi-Final. A fabulous afternoon at Beaumont Park with spectators galore. Some even brought their eski's which became more empty as the heckling became louder.
Pretty even first 20 minutes with both sides having opportunities on goal. Then our captain, Bruce, steps up to the billing and cracks one from way outside the box and into the top right corner. One nil to the good guys.
Second half and not much changed. Fairly even though Miranda were pushing harder. A good break with a bit of support from them lead to a challenged shot, then a fumble from our keeper and the ball casually rolled over the line for 1-1.
That's how it stayed till full time. So, extra time of 15 minutes each way as well as counting corners and goal kicks in case of no result. Golden goal rules applied now.
Several good strong Gymea runs at goal saw plenty of shots including one off the far post before enough support arrived to boot the ball into the Miranda goal and Gymea win 2-1.
So, onto next week against the loser of the other Semi-final. Have beaten neither team, though drawn with each of them. On the whole, we are much more confident than this time last year. We would also like to go one game better and make the Grand Final.
Another Monday now looms with the sky darkening, dinner is awaiting my attention to cook and I am finding lots more muscles that are just that little bit more sore.
Buzzer has gone off, so time to cook dinner.
